I was at the local nursery today and ask about the Datura plant,Well the plant they had was already gloom. And the color was purple and white,so i ask the person there if i can take a piece off it and try to plant and see what would happen,She told me it was ok,but what i did notice was a round green pod,so i cut three of them off and home i went. The pods are green in color with little purple spots, what are these spots? And last can i dry these pods out and plant them?I hope you will reply to this e-mail.

It is one of the Datura metel varieties and these often have raised bumps on the outside of the pods in place of the usual spikes that are present on most other Datura pods. If the seedpods were green with purple spots, they might not be "ripe" enough to have viable seeds yet. On the other hand, there just might be some OK seeds inside. I'd say to give it a try. It can't hurt. When the pod is opened, the darker the seed color, the better. If the inner seeds are white, I'd recommend you plant them immediatelly. If they are brown, you could try some &/or store some dried out for later.
